What the tourist visa gives you
Visa C is a tourist visa: for short trips to Spain, with no right to work or move there permanently.
90 days
maximum you can stay in the Schengen area on a tourist visa, within any 180-day period.
One visa — the whole Schengen area
If your trip covers several Schengen countries, you apply at the visa centre of the country where you'll spend more than half of your trip, or, if the days split evenly, the country of first entry.
For this visa, that means: you need to spend most of your trip in Spain.
With a type C visa you can move freely between Schengen countries.

It's usually issued strictly for the length of your trip, with no extra buffer.
A multi-year multiple-entry visa is more the exception than the rule, and it's best not to count on one in advance.
